Computer and a working internet connection. Well, at least that’s what is going to get you going, but it’s not necessarily ALL of the things you’re going to need. Online poker is a type of game where you usually sit in front of your PC for hours straight. If you’re a tournament player, you’re going to do it every day for like 8 to 12 hrs. If you’re a tournament player and you only spend few hours a day playing, we have some bad news for you… Those tournaments aren’t lasting as long as they should!
We’ve put up a list of different gears and gadgets you should get before starting up your next session, as these items on the list will significantly improve the quality of your game.
Hand analyzing tools
This goes out without saying, but in order to compete in online poker, you’re going to need to get a few subscriptions / licenses to hand analyzing tools, such as Poker Tracker and Holdem Manager. You can play good without these tools, but you’ll never improve, because there is only a certain amount of information our brains can store. Subscriptions to these services aren’t cheap, but you only need win one tournament in with the help of them, in order to make all the expenses back. Think about it.
Good monitor
Your eyes also needs some relief throughout the sessions, as we only have one set of those, and if they’re gone, there is no way to get them back. Make sure you’re playing with proper monitors, preferably with +144hz refresh rates. If you don’t know anything about good monitors, you can walk into a store and ask the salesman to present you few options, each should have at least 144hz refresh rates, and G-sync availability. Be prepared to invest something like 200 to 400 dollars for your new monitor. It’s worth it, trust us.
Gaming chair
Like your eyes, your body is the only one you’re going to get as well. Good gaming chairs will cost around 400 to 600 dollars, but you should look at it as an investment to your future, and not worry about the price too much.
Bonuses
This is not necessarily a “gear”, but it will definitely help your game and it will increase your bankroll. Poker bonuses and rakebacks are a great way of accumulating wins, without actually having to “win” that much. You should always aim to have some sort of bonus or rakeback deal running, which makes your games even more worthwhile. Usually these bonuses can be found throughout different operators who also provide online poker as one of their games.
